Drawing Project 1: The Strangest Place I Visited Over Break

Kitbash 1 for 3D Design

In the year 2225, an age of prosperity has come to Earth. Under the leadership of the Greater Union of Terran Nations, disease and poverty have been abolished. The continents have become a haven for artists, philanthropists, philosophers and entrepreneurs who seek the betterment of mankind, while scientists and explorers flock to underwater colonies and space stations, hoping to unravel the remaining mysteries of our world and those beyond.

In this time of peace, the militaries of the world have adapted into organizations of exploration, and the ancient dogmas which sought to eradicate individuality and free thought have morphed into ideologies of strength through collaboration and mastery of the self. The express highest goal of this New World Order is the exploration and colonization of humankind throughout the stars and beyond.

The Earth Navy H-130, often simply referred to as a wagon by those who use it, is a lightweight hovercraft designed for exploration and reconnaissance on extraterrestrial worlds. As soon as a newly discovered planet is confirmed as able to support human life, the Goose is the first thing on the ground.

The purpose of this craft is to expect the unexpected; its design allows it to traverse virtually any terrain with ease, as well as go over water. armored overhangs on the front and sides of the vehicle protect the delicate skirt from tears and scratches. Furthermore, it is fully equipped for survival in even the most extreme circumstances. Emergency rations, first aid, and other survival tools stowed in the body of the vehicle are enough for its two passengers to survive up to a month in dire conditions. It is a two man craft, with the driver seated in an elevated position on the rear of the vehicle.

Although the H-130 is a military vehicle, it is not a machine of war. Adventurers, biologists, geologists, cartographers, and climatologists are the crew of these vehicles; men and women working to determine the feasibility of establishing a permanent settlement on an alien world.

As of yet, the GUTN has failed to make contact with extraterrestrial intelligent life (although diplomacy with the dolphins has been progressing swimmingly since they achieved legal personhood in the landmark case Bubbles v. the State of California). The search, however, is ongoing. The H-130 fleet has just been deployed on Gliese 581d, in the constellation Libra. Who can say what might be waiting just around the corner?
